Bye Bye Birdie

Hale Theatre will hold auditions Tuesday, May 29th for Bye Bye Birdie playing July 13 – August 25th with performances on Friday and Saturday Evenings, with Saturday Matinees. Call backs will be on Thursday, May 31st.  The show will be produced by David and Corrin Dietlein, directed and choreographed by Cambrian James and music directed by TBA.  Be prepared to sing 16 bars of an up-tempo song, an accompanist will be provided. Auditions will begin at 6:00 pm.

Auditions will be held at the theater located at 50 West Page Avenue in Gilbert. Auditions are by appointment only.  Actors 18 & Older  receive $25 per performance, with at least 21 scheduled performances each adult actor will receive at least $525.  Children under the age of 18 will receive $200 for the run of the show.  Sign up for an audition appointment at www.haletheatrearizona.com.  Any questions can be emailed to cambrianjames@yahoo.com

CASTING:

Conrad Birdie (Male, Age 18-30) The Elvis character, teenage heartthrob.  Fun loving, full-of-himself superstar.

Rosie Alvarez (Female, Age 25-40) A strong willed, feisty, but spunky.  Deep down she is soft, tender, and loves Albert.

Kim MacAfee (Female, Age 14-18) Typical teenage girl who is full and consumed with herself.  Loves the idea of being in love, thinks she is more mature than she is.  Very strong willed and in love with Hugo.

Alberto Peterson (Male, Age 25-40) A little bit shy of commitment, but dedicated and loyal.

Mr. Harry MacAfee (Male, Age 40-60) Kim & Randolph’s father whose one dream is realized when the family gets to appear on the Ed Sullivan Show.

Mae Peterson (Female, 55-75) Albert’s crazy mother who very strongly dislikes Rosie.

Hugo Peabody (Male, 15-20) Kim’s boyfriend who dislikes Conrad Birdie.

Mrs. MacAfee (Female, 35-55) Kim & Randolph’s mother, sad about her kids growing up and losing control.

Gloria Rasputin (Female, 21-30) The woman whom Mae Peterson tries to get Albert with.

Randolph MacAfee (Male, 7-14) Kim’s younger brother.

Male & Female Ensemble (Age 14-25) Various characters needed to be Kim’s friends, part of the Birdie fan club, etc.

Prepare

Prepare no more than 16 bars of an uptempo song. An accompanist will be provided.
